Cue Lady Gaga, who flew down from the roof of Houston’s NRG station into the crowd, surrounded by hundreds of sparkly drones.
Although Lady Gaga opened the Super Bowl with Woody Guthrie’s civil rights anthem and her inclusive hymn “Born This Way” as a mild rebuff of the Trump administration, Gaga played it surprisingly low-key as far as politics go. She reminded the crowd and the 110 million viewers about the essence of entertainment and music saying: “We’re here to make you feel good”, followed by a sweet shoutout to her mom.
Lady Gaga only performed one song from her latest album Joanne but pleased the crowd with her hit singles including “Poker Face”, “Just Dance” and “Telephone”.
